Privacy policy

Not ready for launch: the operator's name and contact e-mail are not set on this server (settings OPERATOR_NAME and CONTACT_EMAIL). This page asks search engines not to list it until they are set.

This policy explains what personal data Twiss ("the site") collects, why, who can see it and what you can ask us to do. The site is run by the operator of this site ("we"), who decides how the data is used.

In short

  • You do not need an account to look at trips or to contact an organiser, and we do not ask travellers for a name or phone number to do that.
  • We do not use cookies, advertising or analytics tools, and we do not sell personal data.
  • We hold personal data only when you send us a form (list your trips, report a listing) or when an organiser or admin has an account.

1. When you just browse

Your browser keeps one random identifier for this site (in its local storage, not a cookie). We use it only to count a tap on WhatsApp or Call once per person for each trip date each day, and to stop one source from flooding the site. We save the count with the trip, the date, the channel (WhatsApp or Call) and the day, together with a scrambled, one-way version of the identifier. We do not save your name, your phone number or the identifier itself, so a tap cannot be traced back to you. Clearing the site data in your browser removes the identifier.

To protect the site from abuse, the server briefly keeps your network address in its working memory so it can limit how fast requests arrive; it is not saved in our database. Our hosting provider may keep ordinary technical logs of its own.

2. When you tap WhatsApp or Call

You leave the site and open WhatsApp or your phone's dialler. What you send there goes to the organiser and is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) or your phone company under their own policies. We do not see your message or your number.

3. When you ask to list your trips

The form asks for a name (yours or your business's), a WhatsApp number, and optionally an e-mail address, an Instagram link and a message. We use them to get in touch with you about listing your trips. Only our team can see them.

4. When you report a listing

You give a reason and some details, and optionally an e-mail address or phone number. We use them to review the report and, if you gave one, to ask you a question about it. Only our team can see them; the organiser does not.

5. Organisers and admins

For an account we hold a name, an e-mail address, a password (kept only in scrambled form, never as typed), the time of the last sign-in, and a count of failed sign-ins used to lock the account for a while. The sign-in token is kept in the browser's local storage. We keep the organiser's profile, logo, trip details and photos, and the WhatsApp and phone numbers they choose to publish; those numbers are public on purpose, so travellers can reach them. Photos are re-saved when uploaded, which removes location and camera details. We also keep a record of actions taken by admins (for example verifying or suspending an organiser).

6. Who can see your data

Our team, and the hosting and technical providers who run the site for us. We may also share data if the law requires it. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.

7. How long we keep it

We keep these records for as long as we need them for the purpose above, or until you ask us to delete them. We do not yet delete them automatically after a fixed time.

8. Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you (a listing request, a report you sent, or an account). Organisers can edit their own profile in the console. Because a tap is stored without your name or number, we cannot find or delete "your" taps; clearing your browser's site data is the way to stop the identifier being reused.

9. Keeping it safe

Passwords are stored only in scrambled form and repeated wrong passwords lock the account for a while. We take reasonable care, but no system is perfectly secure.

10. Children

The site is for adults arranging trips. The forms on it are meant for people aged 18 or over, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes

If we change this policy the date at the top changes. Please read it again from time to time. The rules for using the site are in the Terms of use.

12. Contact and complaints

Contact details are not set on this server yet.

Twiss

A free directory of stranger camps, group trips and packages. Pick a place and a date, then chat with the organiser on WhatsApp or call. We do not take payments or commissions.

Always confirm the details, the price and what is included with the organiser before you pay. Organisers decide what they offer; permits and insurance shown on a trip are what the organiser says, not something we have checked.
